Peer Review Process
The Journal of Applied AI in the Built Environment (JAAIBE) operates a double-blind peer review process, ensuring that both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the evaluation. All submissions first undergo an initial assessment by the editorial team to confirm their suitability for the journal and adherence to basic scholarly and formatting requirements. Manuscripts that clearly fall outside the journal’s scope or standards may be declined at this stage without external review.
During submission, authors may be asked to suggest potential reviewers who possess relevant expertise. These suggestions are appreciated but carry no obligation; the editorial board makes all final reviewer selections independently to preserve objectivity. Once external reviews are completed, the editorial board considers the reports and determines the outcome of the submission. The decision made by the editorial board is final, and the journal does not offer an appeals process.
JAAIBE strives to manage all manuscripts as efficiently as possible. While a typical review period may be around 6–8 weeks, the actual timeline can vary, particularly given the emerging nature of the field and the journal. Review times therefore cannot be guaranteed, but the editorial team is committed to progressing all submissions promptly and maintaining clear communication with authors throughout the process.
