Prepare Your Manuscript

The journal accepts the following types of manuscripts:

  • Editorial (for Editorial Board members only)
  • Research Articles
  • Technical Notes
  • Case Studies
  • Perspectives
  • Reviews and Surveys

Manuscripts must be submitted in English only.

For initial submission, the journal follows a “Your Paper, Your Way” approach. Authors are invited to submit their manuscript in a clear and readable format, ensuring that all text, figures, tables, and other material that can be embedded in the manuscript are included. Any additional files that cannot be included in the main manuscript may be submitted separately if necessary.

Please Note: For double-blind peer review, authors are required to submit anonymized files. The manuscript and all other materials submitted for review should not contain author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, or any other information that could identify the author(s), including identifying metadata within the files.

It is suggested that research articles be less than 10,000 words, while review articles may exceed this limit.

All submissions must include an abstract of no more than 250 words that clearly summarizes the objectives, methods, and key findings of the work. Authors should also provide 4–6 keywords to support indexing and discoverability.

Figures and tables should be clearly presented, numbered, and referenced in the text. Each figure and table must include a descriptive caption.

Where applicable, authors are encouraged to describe the availability of data, code, and models used in the study. Providing access to these materials (through public repositories or upon reasonable request) supports transparency, reproducibility, and reuse. Any restrictions should be clearly stated.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the submitted work is original, adheres to ethical standards, and has not been published elsewhere. All sources must be properly cited, and any conflicts of interest should be disclosed. Permission must be obtained for any third-party material included in the manuscript.

Submissions involving artificial intelligence should clearly describe model development, training data, assumptions, and limitations. Authors are encouraged to discuss ethical considerations such as transparency, bias, and potential impacts on the built environment and its stakeholders.

While formatting is flexible at the submission stage, authors are encouraged to structure their manuscripts clearly. A typical research article may include:

  • Title
  • Abstract
  • Keywords
  • Introduction
  • Methods or Methodology
  • Results
  • Discussion
  • Conclusions
  • References

Other manuscript types may follow structures appropriate to their content.

Final Submission and Accepted Manuscripts

Once a manuscript has been accepted for publication, authors will be asked to prepare and submit a final, publication-ready version of their work. At this stage, the manuscript must be formatted using the journal’s LaTeX template, which will be provided along with detailed instructions to ensure consistency across published articles.

Authors may be requested to address any final editorial or technical comments prior to production. This may include formatting adjustments, clarification of figures or tables, completion of metadata, or confirmation of ethical statements and disclosures.

Before publication, authors will have the opportunity to review proofs of their article to identify and correct any typographical or minor errors. Substantive changes to the content are not expected at this stage.

The editorial office will guide authors through the final steps of the process to ensure a smooth transition from acceptance to publication.
