Publication Ethics

The Journal of Applied AI in the Built Environment (JAAIBE) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity in scholarly publishing. The journal adheres to the COPE Core Practices, and all ethical concerns (whether related to authorship, data integrity, peer review, conflicts of interest, or research misconduct) will be handled in accordance with COPE guidelines and procedures.

Authors are expected to submit only original work that has not been previously published and is not under consideration elsewhere. All sources must be properly cited, and research methods, data, simulations, and analyses must be reported transparently and honestly. Authors are responsible for ensuring that all individuals listed as authors have made genuine scholarly contributions and that any relevant funding, affiliations, or potential conflicts of interest are clearly disclosed.

Reviewers are required to maintain confidentiality, provide objective and constructive evaluations, and disclose any conflicts of interest that may affect their assessment. Unpublished material obtained through peer review must not be used for personal advantage. Editors are responsible for making fair and impartial decisions based solely on a manuscript’s academic merit and relevance to the journal.

In cases where concerns arise regarding plagiarism, data fabrication or falsification, duplicate submission, inappropriate authorship practices, or other ethical issues, the journal will follow COPE-recommended processes to investigate and resolve the matter. When necessary, the journal will issue corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern to maintain the integrity of the scholarly record.

JAAIBE values honesty, transparency, and responsible scholarship, and expects all participants in the publication process to uphold these principles.
